546 Reasons Why We Are Where We Are Today

I found an interesting article that I wanted to share regarding the current situation in our country.  If I had written the article I would have added one additional person/reason, you and your individual power of choice.  There are many altars where we could lay the blame for our current economic situation, corporate and individual greed,  excessive lifestyle choices, gluttony, worries regarding social standing, and intentional ignorance of a changing world, just to name a few.  However, we should never forget to search inside ourselves to see what contributions we made to this situation.

When credit is free flowing and good employment is just a phone call away, we tend to live outside our means and not follow a sensible budget and then curse the day when things are not going our way.  We elect politicians and fail to hold them accountable for their actions, and for the direction that we allow them to take us in. When we get in a bind we turn to the people who created the situation and ask them for help to get out of it.  When they decide to help, they wash away the problem with a bar of soap made from taxpayer money and personal freedom.  Just remember, every time you use a bar of soap, there is a little less of it when you lay it back down than there was when you picked it up.

I hope the following article will at a minimum cause you to think about choices and may cause you to question and hold accountable the parties at fault.

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

There are no insoluble government problems.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.

It 's true that there is ultimate accountablity through the election process, sometimes the terms are just too long.
  • Interesting article, through through the power of election there is accountability.

    To Mr. Doug Quance
Mr Reese arrvied at the calculation using the following people

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

  • While I agree with Mr. Reese's assertions... I don't know where he gets the figure of 545. There are 100 Senators and 435 voting members of Congress (plus 5 non-voting delegates)... add one more for Pres, and I'm lost on the other nine.
