The Kiwanis Club of Marietta will sponsor the Field of Flags 9/11 Memorial at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park September 9-11. Approximately 3,000 American flags will be erected to commemorate the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
The community is also invited to attend a memorial service to be held at the Battlefield September 11 at 6 p.m. Speakers include the Honorable Sonny Perdue, Governor of the state of Georgia, U. S. Senator Johnny Isakson (invited) and Ken Burris, Chief Operating Officer of the U.S. Fire Administration during 9/11 and responsible for establishing the command and control structure for the federal response at ground zero.

6:00 p.m. Bagpipes play Amazing Grace, presentation of colors
6:10 p.m. National anthem and Navy flyover, recognition of special guests
6:20 p.m. Speaker: The Honorable Sonny Perdue, Governor
6:25 p.m. Speaker: Ken Burris
6:35 p.m. 21-gun salute, flag presentation, Taps, bagpipes, Conclude.

Directions: North from Atlanta on I-75, exit 267B (GA-5 S. exit). Merge onto Canton Rd. Connector, right onto Church St. Ext. NW. Left onto Old 41 Hwy/GA-293. Left onto Stilesboro Road, left onto Kennesaw Mountain Drive.
Parking: Public parking is available at corner of Bells Ferry and U.S. Hwy 41 (Cobb Pkwy) with free shuttle transportation to the park. Parking for the handicapped, program participants and media is available at the visitor center.
