Afternoon matinees, children’s playhouse, or an off-off-broadway production produced by your friends and neighbors can be really entertaining and economical.
Plant something with your Children
Watch it grow together. Share it with your neighbors, whether it be flowers or produce.
Protect Your Greenspace
Get in touch with your city’s parks and recreations department (and grassroots organizations) and find out if they have any dates for volunteers to organize a clean-up of local parks and waterways. Take care of where you live!
Pick a favorite local restaurant and try everything on the menu
If you find a dish that you especially like, tell the waitstaff to let the chef know that you really enjoyed it. Chefs love getting (and deserve) a little recognition for a job well done.
Visit your Local Famer’s Market
The food you find there is locally grown, is not processed, and is usually picked the day before. Beat that for freshness. You also get to know that people who grew your food. You won’t find that at a chain grocery store.
