City of Marietta calls for public input on Community Plan

A draft report of the Church-Cherokee Streets Historic District and Kennestone Area Study is available for the public to review, and Marietta is seeking input on the draft from the community. The study includes the historic district, neighborhoods and expanding Kennestone hospital area.

Specific goals include:
* Preservation of the Cherokee-Church Streets Historic District and St. James neighborhood
* Plan compatible land uses and activities within the study area
* Create a variety of housing choices and provide opportunities for neighborhood services and amenities
* Create a pedestrian-friendly, safe, walkable environment
* Minimize the impact of through traffic on the community
* Establish a master plan that will guide the future growth and integrate land use and transportation
* Enhance the quality of life for all residents and workers in the area
