Marketing Group to Employ New Media
The local group that is spearheading the concept and plans to develop the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village in downtown Woodstock has recently formed a marketing committee that has been tasked to create and develop the tools to inform and educate the Cherokee County public of the goals and benefits of the project.
This diverse group of volunteers brings together expertise from many areas of the business and artistic cultures, ranging from graphic artists to video producers to local entrepreneurs to visual artists. Among the initial responsibilities of this group are to create and establish effective methods of public communication that will allow the public to closely follow and comment on the progress of the project. Toward this end, the group has already established a presence on Facebook, will soon initiate a new blog page on the Internet (www.elmstreetarts.org), and are launching a Twitter account.
Shawn McLeod, a founding member of the group, said “In this era of instant communication, it’s absolutely necessary for the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village to use as many new media as possible to make sure our goals and progress are quickly available to the whole community.” She went on to explain, “Because of the complexity of this project, and the limited number of individuals currently involved, we really need to employ as much technology as possible to increase our competence – while keeping our costs at a minimum.”
The marketing committee is also in the process of creating a highly recognizable public identity for the project through the development of a new logo, establishing a presence at neighborhood and civic events, and developing fund raising events that will involve the many artists the reside in Cherokee County.
In a second development, it was announced that in conjunction with the Town Lake Arts Center, donations to support the development of the Elm Street project can now be made at the center’s web site (http://www.tlaclive.com) utilizing Paypal. Donations made to the site should be designated for TLAC Reeves House Rescue Fund. The Towne Lake Arts Center is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are fully tax deductible.
The Elm Street Cultural Arts Village is an innovative Cherokee County project to accurately restore the century old Reeves farm home and surrounding property, and convert it into a major arts, cultural, and recreational destination in Cherokee County.
