I was recently sent the below article from a Subscriber. The weird part is…he called me to ask if it was okay if he forwarded me the story and the call interrupted me and my assistant’s conversation about Google Apps. The story below is about Google Apps, and other similar web services. I had been kicking around the idea for months, but just happened to begin the process of analyzing and understanding the pros and cons of going completely web-based. The result is still not determined, but I am testing some things behind the scenes.
With that said, I do use Zoho Planner daily. It’s a great way to create tasks and monitor their completion between me and my assistant.
Read the entire article from Duct Tape Marketing, but here is an excerpt:
The new Holy Grail, if you follow new things, is something I would like to officially term the Softwareless Office. At present, most any function that you might need a computer or working using that computer to accomplish, can be done with an application that is housed on the web and not resident as software. (Maybe this will lead to the officeless office next.)Google (Google Apps) is driving this train pretty hard at the moment and Microsoft (Office Live) has taken note – mix in some pretty terrific upstarts like 37Signals and you’ve got a great environment for more development on this front.
Plus, I figure if Prudential can use it for 450 agents, maybe Maxsell can use it for our 15?
I’ll keep you posted as I learn more and use more web-based software and apps.
You can monitor my trials and tribulations at www.maxsell.net.
