Ten People every Realtor should Follow on Twitter

You’ve got a fancy new Twitter account, or perhaps a rusty old twitter account, and now you want to take it out for a spin.  But who talks about real estate on Twitter?  It’s not so much about talking real estate as it is about meeting cool people within the real estate industry.  You’ll get good ideas for your business, have reliable resources for information, and I promise you will laugh at some the tweets.

In no particular order, followed by why they are worthy of following.  Here are my

Top 10 Real Estate Industry Twitter Users:

@respres – the ultimate fusion of real estate + technology + great guy.  he also owns Real Estate Shows.

@nik_nik (@renicolay) – these are really two different people, but they do live together in holy matrimony and they have one of the best real estate technology blogs on the planet, MyTechOpinion.

@tcar -mortgage blogger, founder of REMBEX and generally cool dude.

@jonwashburn – founder and co-owner of ActiveRain, the world’s largest real estate networking site.

@laniar (@agentgenius) – another 2 for 1 listing here. this couple not only own and operate the best real estate blog, AgentGenius, but also have their own real estate brokerage firm in Austin.

@tyr – many call him the blogfather (ok, maybe it’s just me), he almost single-handedly started real estate blogging when he created RainCityGuide.  now he owns 4realz.

@realestatezebra – this guy is social media.  he’s so good at it, Inman created a job for him.

@pkitanodeep thoughts on social media and ways to use it in real estate.  he also has one helluva list of RE Twits.

@jburslem – real estate blog pioneer who now works at Inman.

@mlbroadcast – smart, innovative and funny.  he also owns MLBroadcast.

OK that was really twelve if you count the husband and wife twits. So, I’ll round the bakers dozen with blatent self-promotion @bnix!

    Let's make the list a Top 15 to follow :-) and add @FresYes & @KimWood

  • http://maxsell.net bnix

Great additions and certainly you two would have been #14 and #15 on this list. But I never claimed to be perfect or make perfect lists;)

@jonwashburn? after the great unfollow debacle? (just kidding..)

I think that is a great list. Maybe a little Blip.fm heavy at times, but a great list of influencers.

My Dad always said I was a Twit. He just didn't know I'd actually be good at it one day. :) Thanks for including me amongst this group of awesome folks.

Why thank you, @FresYes to be on your list of people to follow.

Nice list, Brad ! You are brave :) I keep thinking I should try per Darren but I just can't narrow my tops !!!

  • http://maxsell.net bnix

Thanks Kim. The list is no disrespect to the hundreds of other people I follow. I enjoy them all, otherwise I would unfollow them. There is no doubt I left out some quality twits, such as yourself, but I had to start and stop somewhere. I think of this list as a great start, plus you will find most of the other quality RE Twits just be seeing who these people tweet with, follow and who follows them.

Whoa – “blogfather?” – good stuff. I agree with you on many of these, and will be looking to add a few based on this list. I try to keep mine pared down so as to not have too much noise.

Thank you Brad! I am honored.

Geordie Romer, The great unfollow debacle was really just a publicity move so that I could climb the ranks quick enough to make this list.

This is a great article. I can tell it's a good list because I was already following most of them. The people mentioned are on the cutting edge of real estate technology and the use of social media in real estate. It's nice to see that commercial real estate people are becoming a larger presence on Twitter; I'd like to see a write-up of the most influential commercial real estate pros on Twitter.

Thanks for the list. It is quite hard to find useful information nowadays although many search engines are there to help. I can hardly find something that I need and especially real estate. Don't know how you managed to write that list but thank you.
