* Maxsell Real Estate is proud to introduce Scott Hocker, State Farm Agent. Scott is our newest bog contributor and we look forward to his insight and tips on insurance of all types. Scott’s first tip is about the benefits of actually Understanding your Homeowner’s Policy:
Knowing the right questions to ask your insurance professional may prevent disappointment in the event of a loss. Many homeowners policies have special limits that apply to certain types of personal property. For example:
· Jewelry and Furs
· Firearms
· Silverware and goldware
· Collections such as stamps, trading cards and comic books
· Rugs, tapestries and wall hangings
· Home computers
· Property used in a business
While most homeowners policies provide comprehensive coverage they generally do not provide coverage for:
· Water damage caused by flood or underground water
· Earth movement including earthquake and mudslide
· Damage caused birds, rodents, insects or domestic animals
Many of the items listed can be insured through separate policies or endorsements. I recommend an annual review of your polices with your agent to make sure they continue to meet your needs.
