Woodstock Real Estate

Woodstock Homes For Sale

The city of Woodstock is emerging to be a perfect blend of a rustic, small town lifestyle intermingled with a cosmopolitan, sophisticated community. The first group of farmers and gold prospectors began making the area their home in the 1830’s around its rivers, and when the trains began traveling through, “Olde Towne Woodstock” was born. In 1897, a state charter deemed Woodstock an “official city” in response to the growing number of merchants who had established themselves around the railroad. Dean’s Store, a treasured relic of early Woodstock, remains intact today and serves as the city’s Visitors’ Center. Still a current gathering place for a group of long-time residents affectionately known as “the boys,” Dean’s remains a symbol of the dedication necessary to preserve the past while still promoting healthy growth in the community.

GATEWAY CORRIDOR CONNECTS ATLANTA TO GA MOUNTAINS

Woodstock is easily accessible to Interstate-575, the “Gateway Corridor” to both the city of Atlanta and the North Georgia Mountains. Consequently, the Woodstock real estate market has grown dramatically over the past ten years. New boutique shops, downtown living, and restaurants now complement the historic storefronts that have withstood the test of time. The new downtown development has remained faithful to the small town experience of Woodstock’s past with its pedestrian-friendly environment and downtown park. Those who seek a home where they can live, work, and play need look no further.

EMBOLDENED BY THE PROSPECT OF ITS FUTURE

While still quite reverent of its heritage, Woodstock is a town emboldened by the prospect of its future. Named recently by Forbes.com as one of the top ten fastest growing suburbs in the country, Woodstock has revealed to newcomers what the natives have known all along–it is a great place to raise a family, grow a business, and enjoy the natural beauty of North Georgia. Woodstock real estate property values are well diversified, and there are an abundance of public and private schools. For the city of Woodstock, the building of infrastructure remains a top priority for the future as is evident by the approval of the new interchange on Interstate 575 just north of Towne Lake Parkway. Woodstock real estate development, growth and appeal are perpetuated by the continued success of forward-thinking business owners and city government. But, foremostly, the greatest appeal of living and working in Woodstock are the people that call this city home. This thriving collective has joined forces to effectively bridge the gap between new and old, preservation and progress.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10,050 people, 3,869 households, and 2,627 families residing in the city.  There were 3,869 households out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 26.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.10.
